Challenge & Solution

Create a unique eyelash brand to be used across a range of 5 designs, their marketing, packaging and websites.

The design solution would appeal to  the darker more alternative end of this sector, and heavily feature vintage Los Angeles references yet still feel fresh and modern.

The solution was to create a very clean and simple brand with a simple 180 degree flip logo using the word ‘DEAD’ upside down as a visual reference.  This also allowed the brand to be viewed ‘playing card style’ from any angle.

The idea was to reference the feel of old hollywood tragedy in the brands.  To achieve this, the five lash designs were named after five tragic Hollywood tales, each with their own dark twist.

The five designs; Peg // Jayne // Nicole // Dahlia // Marie

Each design takes the name of a famous tinseltown female who came to a sticky end.   From Peg Entwistle, who jumped to her death from the Hollywood sign, to Elizabeth Short (Dahlia) who is Hollywood’s most famous unsolved murder case.

The idea was to bring this feel into a clean modern aesthetic, with subtle reference taken from historic funeral prep.

The end result is a mix of high fashion and alternate dark tourism reference.
